XBOX ONE OPENER

Bridging the gap between from Xbox One out of box experience to the Xbox One home dashboard

 Bridge the gap

The out of box experience was part of the Xbox setup. It consisted of downloading the initial update and going through the process of personalizing your Xbox One. After setting up your WIFI, TV settings, and customizing your colors and Gamerpic, it took the user straight to the Xbox UI, leaving the experince arc falling flat.

The experience needed to feel more premium and give a taste of what’s to come.

The solution was to create a video that played after the setup process that introduces you to Xbox One and what you can do next before taking you to the dashboard.

Seamless

From gaming to watching TV and listening to music, it was a seamless experience. We set out to express the visual journey of the connected Xbox experience.

 Familiar

Tiles from the Xbox One dashboard were incorporated in the design to visually connect what you’ll see on the home screen. The design visually interpreted the “depth” of the experience behind the tiles

An important thing to consider was the video is influenced by elements from the Xbox UI. There needed to be a different perspective on how the elements were used to help differentiate between the video and the real dashboard. The Xbox UI was modern and flat, and space was used to explore the depth of the Xbox One experience

 Personalized gaming

Xbox One is personalized. It gives you the ability to customize the dashboard, and make it your own. Your colors, your gamerpic, your home.

 A teaching moment

The person is instructed to press the Xbox button the end of the video, and takes them to the Xbox home dashboard.
